Constitution Day is September 16th and by U.S. law every student is supposed to participate in a lesson about the U.S. Constitution. Below you will find the link to a site which involves students interactively in learning about the history of our country. A very special thank you to Richard Byrne and  Larry Ferlazzo for bringing The Law of the Land to the attention of teachers everywhere.

Third grade parent orientation was a real success. We had more than half of our third grade parents in attendance to show their support. Parents were introduced to school personnel, and vital information pertaining to third grade was shared by each grade level teacher, counselor, and principal. Our guest speaker, Mitzi Neely, shared with the group the increased expectations for third grade and provided a visual presentation of the similarities and differences between second grade and third grade.

Carol Carr was surprised Friday at the Kindergarten Grandparents Day event when she was recognized for being present for 13 Grandparents Day celebrations. She was even more surprised when nine of her grandchildren appeared from the back corner to present her with her a flower bouquet. White Oak ISD is so fortunate to have supportive and encouraging parents and grandparents!

Students who met their AR goals for the 5th six weeks were recognized Friday, April 28, 2011 during the afternoon Honor Day Celebration. A boy and girl from each grade level was randomly chosen to receive “The Sky’s the Limit” pointer. The winners are pictured below. The Intermediate teacher with the most students meeting their goal was also awarded a pointer. Watch the video below to see who won!
