Football Playoffs

This week will be an active week at White Oak. We have basketball games, volleyball playoffs, and football playoffs. Be sure that you are following the Roughnecks and Ladynecks Blog for all times and sites. Coach Stanford does an excellent job of keeping information posted there.

This Friday night @ 7:30 p.m. the Roughnecks will face East Chambers at San Augustine High School in the first playoff game. Mr. Gilbert has received local restaurant information for the San Augustine area. Make a note of your options and plan to come out Friday night and support our boys.

Canned Food Drive Begins Monday

Our annual food drive will begin Monday, November 11 and end on Friday, November 15. Much needed food items are canned meats, canned fruit and vegetables, canned soup with meat, dried spaghetti and sauce, ravioli, boxed dinners, oatmeal and cereal.
The Intermediate students will put their cans in the hallway as you enter the intermediate school just outside the intermediate office.  Please place them in the box or boxes with the corresponding grade level.
The Primary students will put their cans in the hall by the stairway in the kindergarten hall.  Students will place them by grade level in the box or boxes with the corresponding grade level.
Teachers do not need to keep up with the number of cans each classroom brings.  Cans will count by grade level.
Encourage the students to bring one food item.  If every student brings just one, we will have more than 600 food items to donate! We will have representatives from the White Oak Temporary Assistance Program (TAP) here on Friday, November 22, to accept our donation.
Thank you for your support.

Coats For Kids – Saturday

Longview Community Ministries will host their Coats for Kids Campaign this Saturday, November 9th, at the Broughton Recreation Center on MLK Boulevard in Longview from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This annual event provides warm coats for school age children. Participating cleaners are currently in the process of collecting coats, hats, gloves, and jeans from the public and unclaimed coats at schools. Anyone can come to claim a coat, but the child must be present to receive a coat. Last year this ministry gave out 943 coats to 339 families. School Counselors are invited to come by Broughton Center around 1:30 to procure some coats to keep on their campus for those students who may need a coat once the cold weather arrives. Please make plans to donate now.

You may donate your coats at the following participating cleaners:

  • Longview Area: Alpine Cleaners, Dry Clean Super Center, McLendon Cleaners, Service Cleaners, Sno-White Laundry, and Village Cleaners
  • Kilgore Area: McLendon Cleaners
  • Gladewater Area: Family Cleaners
  • White Oak Area: McLendon Cleaners
  • Hallsville Area: McLendon Cleaners
