The ring ceremony to honor the 2013 Basketball State Championship will be held on Tuesday, May 28th, at 6:30 in the White Oak High School cafeteria. Tickets will go on sale Thursday, May 16th, for $12.00 each and can be purchased in the White Oak High School office, Administration Building, or the Intermediate office. Congratulations WO Tennis Team!
Congratulations to Collin McMullen and Tyler Keel who just yesterday won the 2-A Boys Doubles Tennis State Championship. To Mrs. Cloud, our own SOI teacher and tennis coach, we also extend a huge Congratulations! We have so much to be thankful for here at White Oak ISD.

TEA Releases 5th Grade SSI Brochure
In 1999, the Texas legislature enacted the Student Success Initiative (SSI) requiring 5th grade (and 8th grade) to pass both math and reading state assessments in order to promote to the next grade. With the change from TAKS to STAAR last year, TEA did not impose the SSI requirements. This year the passing requirement returns for 5th and 8th grades.

EARLY DISMISSAL TUESDAY, APRIL 16TH
We will have our Early Release on Tuesday, April 16th. This will be a training day for teachers. Five professional development classes will begin shortly after your children are dismissed. Because of the scheduled events, we are asking that parents NOT eat lunch with their child on the 16th. Please make note of the times below:
- Afternoon PreK will meet from 8-11 with the morning class
- Primary and Intermediate Campuses – 12:00
Fun Run at White Oak Stadium
We would like to encourage all students to participate in the Fun Run for the Professional Athletes Against Childhood Obesity. This year the event will take place on Saturday, April 20th at the White Oak Stadium. Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the run will begin approximately at 10:00 a.m.
Students will run from the Nature Center Pavilion, down Stadium Drive to the White Oak Track and run one lap. Kindergarten students will lead the pack. Each student will receive a wristband which will record the name of the adult who will be picking them up from the Fun Run. The race will last approximately 30 minutes. Students will then be returned to their parents.
Autographs from athletes on hand will immediately follow the race!
Because it is imperative that we get a definite count on the number of students in order to have adequate provisions for the race, we need parents to return their Fun Run Registration to Coach Mary Underwood, White Oak Intermediate.
