Coats For Kids – Saturday

Longview Community Ministries will host their Coats for Kids Campaign this Saturday, November 9th, at the Broughton Recreation Center on MLK Boulevard in Longview from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This annual event provides warm coats for school age children. Participating cleaners are currently in the process of collecting coats, hats, gloves, and jeans from the public and unclaimed coats at schools. Anyone can come to claim a coat, but the child must be present to receive a coat. Last year this ministry gave out 943 coats to 339 families. School Counselors are invited to come by Broughton Center around 1:30 to procure some coats to keep on their campus for those students who may need a coat once the cold weather arrives. Please make plans to donate now.

You may donate your coats at the following participating cleaners:

  • Longview Area: Alpine Cleaners, Dry Clean Super Center, McLendon Cleaners, Service Cleaners, Sno-White Laundry, and Village Cleaners
  • Kilgore Area: McLendon Cleaners
  • Gladewater Area: Family Cleaners
  • White Oak Area: McLendon Cleaners
  • Hallsville Area: McLendon Cleaners

FINAL WEEKEND for Fundraiser

This is the final weekend for the White Oak Intermediate Cookie Dough Fundraiser. Completed order forms and money should be returned on Wednesday, November 6th.  Parents, please check to make sure that the total of the orders matches the total amount of money returned. Mismatched orders and money may result in orders not being placed. This is very important.

Good luck to each of our students and a big thank you to each of our parents! Make this a profitable weekend for your school.

A Great Team – Sonic Limeades for Learning and Donors Choose

The teachers and students at White Oak Elementary are once again indebted to Donors Choose and Sonic’s Limeades for Learning for funding 17 teacher projects totaling over $10,460. Teachers wrote projects and submitted these applications to Donors Choose. Sonic then sponsored Limeades for Learning from September 23rd through October 27th. Our primary and intermediate teachers received funding for 17 of 19 of the projects submitted.  Donations were made by grandparents, parents, retired educators, friends, and Sonic! Because of their support and Sonic Manager, Brandon Sheffield, we were able to add iPods, Chromebooks, iPads, and Boogie Boards to several elementary classrooms.

Thank you, Sonic!

Maroon and White Day

Tomorrow, November 1st, marks the final day in Red Ribbon Week. It has been a well-planned and meaningful week for our students. A big thank you goes to Mrs. Sarah Maines for all of her efforts to make this week successful. In keeping with our Friday theme, “Don’t let drugs Drill your brain!”, students are encouraged to wear Maroon and White tomorrow.  Let’s show our school spirit while pledging to remain Drug Free.

It’s that time of year! Win Santa’s Stocking! A giant stocking filled with goodies will be awarded to one lucky student on the Primary campus and one student on the Intermediate campus.  You may enter as many Box Tops as you like. Please make sure your name is on the Box Top, baggie, or paper to which the Box Top is affixed.  On December 13th, each principal will draw one name out of the Box Top container. This student will take home a stocking full of goodies!

Box Tops for Education is a program supported by Genera Mills and other companies that aid schools in raising money for various purchases and products they deem important for their students. For each Box Top coupon we mail to General Mills, White Oak Intermediate and Primary receive 10¢.  We hope everyone will join in supporting our school and our kids with our 2013-2014 Box Top Drive.
