Congratulations Intermediate Students! Target just presented our campus with a 2013 Take Charge of Education@ check­

Thanks to parents, teachers and other supporters in our community,  our school is benefiting
from Take Charge of Education. Every time they shop with their REDcard, Target donates
up to 1% of their purchase to the eligible K-12 school they have designated. ,

Target is on track to give $1 billion for education by the end of 2015 and we are thrilled to be a
part of this program.

We are experiencing telephone outages, so in order to meet the needs of our parents and staff, each campus has been assigned a cell phone for the duration of this problem with the phone lines. The numbers are posted below.  It is Mr. Gilbert’s hope that the problem is solved by the end of the day. Thank you for your patience.

Intermediate teachers will be giving DRA (Developmental Reading Assessments) this week to students in order to set a baseline for this year’s progress. Next week, students will take a Math Screening Assessment. Let’s all work hard to do our best!

School will be closed Monday, September 2nd. Enjoy the time with your families celebrating Labor Day. Talk to your children about Labor Day and what it means.

Labor Day is celebrated on the first Monday in September. It’s a day dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. The holiday credits the contributions of the working class to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

Labor Day became an official national holiday in 1894. This holiday is usually celebrated with summer activities. Elementary teachers use this holiday to introduce the concept of Community Helpers to small children. Everyone plays a role, or works a job that supports their community.

What role do you play in your community?

 

Third and Fourth grade parents are invited to Parent Orientation on Thursday, September 5th, from 5:00-6:00 pm. Each teaching team will host a parent meeting to be held in the classroom. Teachers will share a slideshow presentation and speak on important information that is sure to make this a successful school year. Please plan to attend.

Pep Rally Procedures

To keep our students safe we have set up a procedure for checking out your student(s) for each Pep Rally. We appreciate your support with following these procedures. Together we will work toward making sure that all of our students are safe.

• Any child planning to attend a Pep Rally must have a note and be signed out by an adult. Students with a note will be allowed to go to the Pep Rally pick up area located in the elementary cafeteria. Classroom teachers will keep the note. If parents do not send a note it will take longer to get your child to you. 
  
• We will begin releasing students to the adult at 2:45. When parents enter our campus there will be a sign out sheet for you to sign your child out. If you arrive early you can sign the sheet, but students will not be released until 2:45.
• Once students are released at 2:45, then parents will go to the cafeteria. Your child will come to you. This is to ensure that students are released to the correct adult and are accounted for.
