Remembrance Day

White Oak’s own Bill Terry tells his story of the attack on Pearl Harbor from a first person’s point of view in the recent Longview News Journal’s article.  Journalist Angela Ward writes that he is now “living a quiet life in White Oak”, but some of the residents of White Oak know that this life is not always quiet.

Most of the time his home is filled with the sound of family, as are the halls of White Oak schools with his own family members. Mr. Terry is the father-in-law of two of our White Oak teachers, grandfather of two of our White Oak teachers, and great-grandfather of 16 of our students. Eleven of these students are right here on our elementary campuses.

While his service to our country is valued and honored, his contribution to our community continues to give. We are thankful for his safety 70 years ago, and so blessed on this Remembrance Day for his choice to make White Oak his home.

We love you, Grandpa Terry!
